It is made of heavy fan paper folded to make a pleated surface. It is capable to remove 30 to 40 percent particles. It is expensive than the glass filters.

Electrostatic central air filters are considered as most effective for filtering the air in the home. The dust or air particles are attracted and held by the electronically charged air filters. It removes the dust allergens and similar irritants successfully. An electrostatic central air filter is far better than a pleated and standard air filter. This filter can be reused after cleaning. The other advantage is that it can fit in the furnace quite well (which is a basic problem with other filters).

The central air filter has been manufactured to capture the irritants and contaminants. These airborne particles and bacteria are also removed with the help of Ultraviolet components and ozone generators. But it is not advisable for people suffering form asthma to have these ozone generating filters inside their air circulation system. It can trigger attacks in them.
